Thanksgiving Day Run

Add a new tradition to your family's Thanksgiving celebration this year.  The first annual Oregon Mid Valley Road Race crosses the starting line on Thanksgiving morning at 9 am at Ray's Food Place in the North Albany Village.  The Mid Valley Road Race has a competitive 5 mile run called the "Scenic Challenge," for athletes in the family.  There's an easier 3 mile jog and a 2 1/2 mile memorial walk in remembrance of Boey Byers, the little girl from Benton County who had an Extreme Home Makeover and helped pass an act of Congress for
kids' cancer research.  A portion of the money raised will benefit Cricket Beebe, a 4th grader who is winning her battle against cancer.  The races start at 9 am on Thanksgiving morning at Ray's Food Place in the North Albany Village.  Registration opens at 8 am or you can register in advance at omroadrace.org or at racecenter.com.  The Mid Valley Road Race benefits Habitat for Humanity, Sparrow Clubs for sick kids, and the Mid Valley Lions Club Charities.  And remember to bring canned food to donate to FISH of Albany.

Teddy Bear Drive at KRKT

Once again, the radio station will be taken over by Teddy Bears...if all goes well.
The Department of Human Services 2008 Winter Wishes campaign provides gifts to foster children in Linn County.  On December 18th, foster parents and foster children will come together to pick up their Christmas presents.  Santa Claus will be there too presenting every child with a Teddy Bear.

Please bring new, unwrapped Teddy Bears (all shapes, sizes, colors...but just bears please) to KRKT at 2840 Marion Street SE in Albany.  There is a Teddy Bear box in the front lobby.  Gently place them in, and if you'd like, leave your name with our office staff so we can properly thank you for your donation on air.

Casa

Help CASA Children experience Christmas dreams come true.  Sponsor a child's dream by...
Shopping for a gift on their list
making a financial contribution ($30 per child)
recruiting other shoppers/contributers

There are over 150 CASA children and siblings in Benton County neighborhoods.  Foster parents have minimal resources to fulfill Christmas dreams.  Our goal is to provide a gift for each CASA child (and other foster care children in the home) so they receive a "just what they've always wanted" gift from their wish list.

Contact Friends of the Family to sign up to help with this Christmas project.
